James W. Ziebell

James W. Ziebell, age 79 of Cozad, passed away April 12, 2015 at his home. James was born December 20, 1935 at Arapahoe, Nebraska to Julius and Margaret (Hinz) Ziebell. He attended Immanuel Parochial School and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1953. James served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. On February 7, 1958, James was united in marriage to Carol Faw in Arapahoe, Nebraska. James' working career in agriculture included farming and feedlot management in several Nebraska and Colorado communities. He was a faithful and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran and other Lutheran Churches where he held various offices as secretary, elder and vice president. James was a giver, volunteering for CASA, Pony Express, and Lincoln County Sheriffs Posse. He received Ag Employee of the Year in 2003. James was very proud of each child and grandchild and their strengths and accomplishments. He was an animal lover and owned many horses and dogs over the years-his special love. Of course he was a supreme cattleman and loved the outdoors and plants, trees and grass-God's creations. He was a good husband, good dad, good man. James is survived by his wife, Carol of Cozad; children, Mitch (Cheri) Ziebell of Cozad, Toria (Alan) Carpenter of Thornton, CO and Stephanie (Brian) Dorr of North Platte; grandchildren Turner (Bridgett) Dorr, Marshall Dorr, Dylan (Melinda) Carpenter, Amanda (Ross) Spradlin, Sarah (Adam) Hillers, Rebecca Ziebell, Taylor (Braxton) Fecht, Marguerite (Aaron) Gallegos, Jeremy (Lisa) Carpenter, Michael (Amber) Carpenter, Deanna (Randall) Kelley; 11 great-grandchildren, Chandler, Rieker, Mollie, RaeLyn, Henley, Ashton, Avery, Ellie, Erich, Layton, Hadley; one great great grandchild, Bella; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends that he has touched over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Beata (Ervin) Petermann; brothers Albert Ziebell and Robert (Carol) Ziebell. A memorial has been established in his memory. Services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating and Liturgist Pastor William Ohlmann. Burial with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, northeast of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad, which is in charge of arrangements.
