Vickie Rae Lee of Cozad passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, surrounded by her family. Vickie was born on November 18, 1950 in Cozad, Nebraska to Verlon “Kit” and M. LaRae (Hanson) Crick.
Vickie graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1969. Soon after, she began working at Evan's Bakery, where she dedicated 36 years of her life until the business closed permanently. After retiring from the bakery, she worked part-time for six years at Cork and Cap. During this time, she developed close friendships with Jill Nelsen and Deana Richardson.
On August 9, 1971, Vickie married Gary Lee. Together, they were blessed with two children, Monica and Corey.
Vickie was known as the life of the party. She loved hosting family gatherings and enjoyed having friends and family at her home, especially on special occasions like Hay Days and Husker Games. Visits from her special friend Avery were always treasured. She spent many years participating in bowling leagues and had a fondness for going to the horse races and gambling.
Vickie was the heart of her home and family. She would want everyone to take a moment to shed a few tears and say a prayer to mourn her passing. But then, she would want everyone to come together, eat a good meal, have a few drinks, and dance to celebrate her life and remember her with great joy.
Vickie Rae Lee will be deeply missed by all who knew her, for her spirit and kindness touched many lives.
