Timothy E. Peden of Cozad passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Emerald Care Nursing at the age of 64. He was a quiet and private person who lived a life marked by devotion to family and hard work.
Tim was born on March 24, 1961. After completing his education at Cozad High School, where he graduated with the class of 1979, Tim furthered his studies at Hastings Technical College, earning an associate degree in 1981. In 1985, he proudly joined the US Navy and served on the USS Tripoli.
Upon returning home following his military service, Tim joined his father at Peden's Machine Shop, where he dedicated 15 years of hard work. Later on, he worked for T & L, traveling throughout Nebraska, Colorado, and Wyoming as a Pivot Irrigation installer.
Tim cherished his time spent in the great outdoors, particularly enjoying hunting trips with his cousins. He had a deep affection for his family's farm, where he loved to spend moments with his Granddad and Granny Peden. Tim also carried on his Granny's legacy in the kitchen, finding joy in cooking.
Timothy was a man of many interests. He loved dogs and always had one by his side. He took joy in watching his niece and nephew grow up, proud of every milestone they reached.
In his later years, Tim faced the challenge of cancer, diagnosed in 2022. He spent his time at home, fighting valiantly through a tough battle after coming out of remission.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, P. Edward and Audrey Peden; grandparents, Ward and Susan Peden and Charles and Rachel Burke; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his sister, Terese Baker, nephew Charlie Baker and niece Audrey Baker, all of Cozad; uncle Dwaine Aden of Gothenburg, uncle Larry and aunt Joanne Burke of Elwood, aunt Rheta Burke of Cambridge; and several cousins.
Memorials are suggested to Central Plains Home Health and Hospice. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, December 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell.
