Robert Joseph Dillon

February 4, 1943 — October 17, 2021

Robert Joseph Dillon, a life-long Cozad resident, died on October 17, 2021 at the age of 78 in Mesa, Arizona. Bob is survived by his daughters Kim (Dillon) and Brett Sassali of Cozad and Michelle (Dillon) and Cory Spotanski of Elm Creek and Abbi Jensen of Omaha. He had five brothers George (Margaret) Dillon of Gothenburg, Jack (Judy) Dillon of Lincoln, Jim (Robee) Dillon of Cozad, and Don (Cap) Dillon of Cozad and one sister Donna (Tony) Kolbo Christianson of Cozad, and Bob Peterson of California. His grandchildren included: Tatum, Tag and Talyn Sassali, Aaliyah Wilkins, Brady and Nyla Spotanski, Jeremy Halbgewachs and Mariah Morrison (Shane Eitzen); great grandchildren include: Tesla and Tennessee Eitzen. Bob was born February 4, 1943 in Lexington, Nebraska to Morris and Lucille (McVicker) Dillon. Bob attended school at Cozad where he graduated in 1962. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. When Bob returned from his service, he was hired by Monroe’s where he worked in Tool and Dye and worked there until he retired. On August 21, 1968, Bob was joined in marriage with Judy Grimm. He and Judy had three children, Rhonda, Kim, and Michelle. Bob loved fishing and hunting. At one point he even refurbished his cousin’s boat. He also enjoyed tinkering around in his garage, fashioning solutions to issues for himself and others, and collecting all the tools necessary to do just about any job. He never missed a Husker game even during their trying times, and absolutely loved to get on the dance floor. Bob loved having a good time and taught his daughters how to have a good time as well. He loved to hang out at Johnson’s Lake his entire life. He was a person that could converse with anyone about nearly anything even while sitting at the local Casey’s. No one was a stranger to him. He loved his “big boy” toys. Bob was proud to drive around in his tractor, Polaris Ranger, and on his scooter in Arizona. Buying a camper and towing it around the area was the start and eventually an annual trip to Arizona to vacation each winter was a part of his plan. He even planned to purchase a golf cart to cruise around this winter. His girls were lucky enough to surprise him last year at his Arizona home and had planned on making another trip to see him this year. Bob also loved a good nap, coffee time with the boys, and slow cruises around town which usually lead to the Dillon farmstead. Later in life, Bob could be found attending a variety of events that his grandchildren were participating in. Supporting his grandkids at their events was very important to him and finding his daughters to hang out with was always his top priority. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Lucille Dillon, his daughter Rhonda Morrison, and numerous aunts and uncles. Bobby D was a one-of-a-kind man and will be missed by so many. Dance on Bob! Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Services will be Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
