Richard Dorsey of Cozad passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Kearney, Nebraska at the age of 77. Richard was born December 23, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York to Henry and Anna Rose (Goddard) Dorsey.

Richard’s early years were spent in Brooklyn before moving to Nebraska, where he graduated from Cozad High School with the Class of 1968. On April 4, 1971, Richard married Ruby Fredrichsen.

Throughout his professional life, Richard was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. He worked security at Monroe Auto and was also employed at F & S Sausage and Excel Packing. Many years were dedicated to Evan's Bakery, where his consistency and attention to detail earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike. Later in his career, Richard contributed his skills and dedication at Walmart, where he remained until his well-deserved retirement.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Richard was a man of varied interests. He enjoyed camping and fishing, activities that spoke to his appreciation for nature and the simpler pleasures of life. Attending stock car races brought him excitement and camaraderie, while going out for coffee with friends was a cherished routine that highlighted his warmth and sociability.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing he is reunited with those he loved.
