Listen to Obituary

Norman Dee Valenzuela passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025 at his home in Cozad at the age of 62. Norm born on May 10, 1963, at Offutt Air Force Base, was the son of Melchor Valenzuela and Victoring Hawley. He grew up in various places but eventually made his home in the Salt Lake area, where he became a father to his first child, Danielle. It was in Salt Lake that he met his partner, Patty Arehart, and they welcomed their son, Saige, together.

Norm and his family later moved back to Nebraska, where they added a daughter, Shelbie, to their family. Sadly, Patty passed away in 2004. Norm continued to build his life in Cozad, where he welcomed another daughter, Brooke. In 2018, he married Caroline Gaudreault, and together they started Norm’s Drywall. They soon celebrated the birth of their daughter, Rose.

Above all, Norm loved his family deeply. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and uncle, known for making friends easily and sharing delightful stories.

Norm was preceded in death by his mother, Vickie Hawley; his stepmother, Emma Valenzuela; and his wife, Patty. He is survived by his father, Mel Valenzuela Sr. (California); his wife, Caroline; and his children: Danielle Wingrove (Junior) of Cozad, Saige (Brylee) Valenzuela of Lexington, Shelbie (Cody) Wilson of Cozad, Brooke Valenzuela (Brock) of Elwood, and Rose Valenzuela of Cozad. He was a proud grandfather to Alexia Conder, Brooklyne Wingrove, Waylon Erickson, Bentley Wilson, and Declan Enamorado Munoz, all from Cozad.

He also leaves behind many siblings across several states: Mel (Joy) Valenzuela, Chris (Brandon) Rennells, Kim Woodruff, Leigh (Robb) Stieb, Michael (Lauren) Valenzuela, Gina (Alan) Sioco, Robbie Valenzuela, Richie Valenzuela, as well as Betty (Rick) Fitch, Stan Furgison, Mike Furgison, Laura Brinkerhoff (Dan), Larry Wheeler, Leon Wheeler, and Ronnie Furgison, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Norm will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
