Michael Jerome Kapustka

Michael J. Kapustka passed away April 15, 2020, of natural causes at his home in Cozad, at the age of 47. Mike was born January 12, 1973 at Cozad, Nebraska to Robert Kapustka and Maureen (Ogorsolka) Kapustka. He graduated from Cozad High School and attended college at Milford, Nebraska where he obtained an Auto Body Degree. Mike was an avid sportsman and loved anything outdoors, deer, pheasant and duck hunting, cooking, barbecuing and smoking meat. A favorite pastime was canoeing and spending time on the river. He liked his music loud and loved entertaining people. Mike was a jokester and was the life of the party. Everyone he met he gave a piece of himself too and we all loved him. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces, nephews, cousins, especially the little ones. They always loved him as he would play, joke, and give them so much love.  His dog Nova was his baby. He took her everywhere and he loved her with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Opal and Vincent Ogorsolka and Mary and Raymond Kapustka; uncles, Charles Ogorsolka, Larry Kapustka, Jerome Kapustka and Larry Nichols; and aunt, Marty Kapustka-Schley. Survivors include his parents, Maureen (Steven) Sparks of Cozad and Robert (Joan) Kapustka of Boelus, NE; sister, Kristen (John) McNally of WI; and brother, Anthony (Melissa) Kapustka of Rockville, NE; nieces and nephews, Anslie (Jessie VanWaardhuizen) Dishman, Gage McNally, Rylan McNally and Tatum Kapustka; as well as many other relatives, extended family and close friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Mike Pampara as celebrant. Cremation was chosen. There will be no memorial book signing. Inurnment will be at Cozad Cemetery. Berryman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
