Macedonia Elizabeth ‘Donia’ Heller of Cozad passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Gothenburg Health at the age of 65. Donia was born on November 22, 1960 at Cozad, Nebraska to Bonifacio and Florida (Rivera) Maestas. Donia graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1980.
A dedicated individual, Donia’s career spanned various fields. She worked at Baldwins, Steak Master, and Vtronics, and served as a CNA at the nursing home in Bertrand, Nebraska. Her last job was with a construction crew, showcasing her diverse skills and strong work ethic.
Family was at the heart of Macedonia’s life. She was blessed with two daughters, Autumn and Amber, and they were raised in Elwood, Cozad, and Lexington. Her grandchildren, Aiden and Emily, were the loves of her life and brought her immeasurable joy.
She had a passion for cooking and thoroughly enjoyed preparing for the holidays, filling her home with warmth and cheer. She loved music and dancing, often lighting up a room with her vibrant spirit. A true social butterfly, she was always warm and welcoming, bringing people together. Reading the Bible was one of her cherished pastimes, reflecting her love for faith and family.
In her free time, Donia enjoyed collecting Ray Dunn dishware and had a great appreciation for fashion. She loved to dress up and had a particular interest in shoes and boots, which she often showcased with pride. Additionally, she loved to watch TikTok videos, keeping herself connected with trends and fun.
Donia will be remembered fondly for her zest for life, her love for family, and her ability to bring joy to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her daughters, Autumn Castellanos of Cozad and Amber Heller of Cozad; grandchildren, Aiden Castellanos and Emily Castellanos, both of Cozad; sisters, Angie (Don) Moore of Omaha, Bonnie (Richard) Nichols of Cozad and Rose (Phillip) Sprague of Cozad; life partner, David Evans of Cozad; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 1, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
