Lore Loshonkohl

September 28, 1932 — February 24, 2021

Lore Mehrer Loshonkohl of Cozad passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Emerald Care Center at the age of 88. Lore was born September 28, 1932 in Flein, Germany to Robert and Lena Mehrer. Lore was baptized and confirmed in Flein Evangelishe Kirche. She graduated from school in Flein. Lore met Roy Loshonkohl from Cozad while he was stationed in Heilbronn. Roy was serving in the U.S. Army in Heilbronn and met the loves of his life, Lore, Reimund and Monika. Lore, Reimund and Monika came to the United States on the SS America Ship. Roy and Lore celebrated two weddings, one in Germany before leaving Europe and another one on September 25, 1961 in Cozad, Nebraska. From this union, three more children were born, Michelle, Marianne and Alfred. Roy and Lore attended Lonestar Cowboy Church in Farnam, Nebraska. Providing for her family and taking good care of them was very important to Lore. Lore worked at F & S Sausage Company in Cozad. She also cooked at Southview Manor and later the Diagnostic Research Center. She worked at Sperry New Holland in Lexington, drove a silage truck and cleaned numerous houses in the Cozad area. Lore always had a big garden, and she and her family made the famous Loshonkohl sauerkraut and horseradish every year. Lore was a hard worker. Lore always enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved the children so much! Lore liked to cook and to share homemade goods with others. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and embroidering. Each grandchild was gifted a handmade afghan made with lots of love from Oma. Lore is survived by daughters, Monika (Verl) Jurjens and Michelle (Kim) Lehmann, and daughter-in-law Jean (Reimund) Loshonkohl of Eustis, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Ryan (Helen) Jurjens, Mike (Jill) Loshonkohl, Lindsey (Dallas) Farr, Kristen (Greg) Richey, Shelby (John) Uhrich, Jennifer (Simson) Wang, Jessika (Cody) Klingelhoefer, Jeff (Katie) Loshonkohl and 23 great-grandchildren, Emilee, Rylee, Josie, Luke, Jake, Kohl, Mark, Camden, Averie, Brynn, Cale, Shelby, Haydn, Blayklee, Maddyn, Cashtyn, Creighton Conrad, Cori, Trevor, Tyson, Kiptyn, and Rhett; sister-in-laws, Betty Collicott of Elwood and Lois (Chuck) Gregory of Holdrege. Waiting for Lore at Heaven's gate were her late husband, Roy; her parents; brothers, Ernst, Kurt and Heini Mehrer; children, Reimund, Marianne and Alfred Loshonkohl; great-granddaughters, Gentry Farr and Haven Wang; sisters-in-law, Helen Clevenger and Lisa Mehrer; and brother-in-law, Dee Collicott. Lore will be missed by many relatives and friends and great friends Pastor Greg Boller and "Doctor" Joe Debban. It is the family's hope that Lore will be remembered for the way she showed her love by tugging on the cheeks of those she adored and for her fun German accent. Memorials are suggested to the Lonestar Cowboy Church or the family's discretion. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 1, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Boller officiating. Private burial at Fort McPherson National Cemetery will be prior to the service. Visitation with family present will be Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
