Linda Sue (Larson) Sampy, 69, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones the morning of May 28, 2025.
Linda was born on September 14, 1955 in Newman Grove, NE to Dale and Cora Larson and graduated from Newman Grove High School in 1973. After several moves and career changes, she settled back in Newman Grove where she met Steve Sampy, a teacher at Newman Grove, at the post office while she was getting the mail for her job. The two were united in marriage on March 1, 1986 at Shell Creek Lutheran Church. In June of 1989, they welcomed their daughter, Brittany.
Linda was a huge supporter of Steve’s teaching, coaching, and administrative career, and, later, Brittany’s participation in golf and public speaking. She worked for many years in various capacities in Axtell, Minden and Eustis where Steve was employed and especially loved working in the library at Eustis-Farnam Public Schools. As much as she was devoted to her family, Linda loved being a grandmother most of all. She adored her granddaughter Iris and spoiled her every chance she got. Linda enjoyed reading and was a huge lover of all animals, enjoying her time taking care of the dogs and cats she lovingly adopted.
The family left behind to cherish her memory are husband, Steve Sampy and daughter Brittany Sampy of Eustis, NE; granddaughter Iris Quiroz of Eustis and Lincoln, NE; siblings Larry (Joyce) Larson of Edmonds, WA, Terry Larson of Sun Prairie, WI, and Connie (Tom) Keel of Coralville, IA; sister-in-law Teresa (Jeff) Messersmith of Laurel, NE; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by infant daughter Cecile Mae Sampy, parents Dale and Cora Larson, and mother-in-law Pat Sampy.
Memorials will be dedicated to the Eustis-Farnam Public School library. Following cremation, Linda’s ashes will be laid to rest with Cecile Sampy in Axtell, Dale and Cora Larson in Newman Grove, and Pat Sampy in Ansley.
