Lee R. Misterek of Elwood passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 85. Lee was born February 18, 1935 to Byron L. and Louise Emilie (Debban) Misterek on the Misterek Farm. He has two older siblings, Dean and Delores. He attended country school and then transferred to Elwood Schools to finish his education. He married Maxine Dreher and to this union he had 5 children, Steve Leroy, charlene Ann (Taun West), Shari Lynn (Jim Lueking), Brenda Mae (John Golter), and Judy Leigh (Rod Stagemeyer).
On October 17, 1981, Lee married Darlene Schwarz and 4 more children were welcomed into the family. Debra White, Kristi Jo (Scott Hueftle), Mindi (Shawn Area), and Shane (Daphne) Schwarz.
During his lifetime he worked for Bossung Farms, Bellamy Aerial Spraying as a spray pilot, Dawson County Feeders, Sperry New Holland, Vale Locker and Grocery in Vale, Oregon, which was owned by his mother, Louise and her husband, Ike Goforth.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve; wife, Darlene; and brother, Dean; sister-in-law, Etta Misterek; and brother-in-law, Eldon Houlden and mother-in-law, Doris Whiting. Lee is surveved by his children; sister, Delores; grandchildren, Jessica Dennis, Destinee Steinke, Trever Golter, Blair Golter, Skyler Golter, Cody Stagemeyer, Shelby Stagemeyer, Misty Bussinger, Steve White, Chris White, Bobby Hueftle, Mason Area and Morgan Area, Noah Schwartz and Thomas Schwartz; and numerous great grandchildren.
Lee was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving as an Elder. An active member of the patriot guards, past member of the Elwood Volunteer Fire Department and Johnson Lake EMS. The Elwood Fair would find him helping the Legion Club. He was always out and about on his motorcycle and socializing with his friends.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael Wolff officiating. Private burial will be at Elwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Berryman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
