LaVeda M. Stombaugh of Cozad passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney at the age of 84. LaVeda was born November 23, 1934 in Overton, Nebraska to William and Helen (Klauz) Barta. She grew up near Sumner, Nebraska where she graduated from high school. On November 1, 1953, she married Clyde Stombaugh and to this union, two children were born, Kim and Farren. She and Clyde farmed south of Eustis, Nebraska for 10 years before moving to Cozad. LaVeda worked at Cozad Fashions and Evans bakery. She loved clothes and getting dressed up, decorating her home for the different holidays and dancing. LaVeda and Clyde enjoyed traveling, play cards and games, and going to country music jams. LaVeda was as a devoted wife and mother. She loved cooking for and taking care of her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Clyde of Cozad; daughter, Kim (Rick) Konyek of Omaha; son, Farren (Brenda) Stombaugh of Cozad; grandchildren, Taryn Stombaugh of Eustis, Trey Stombaugh of Kearney, Jonathan (Cassy) Smith of North Platte, Heather (Matt) Smith of McCool Junction, Christopher Smith of North Platte and Jessica Smith of Cozad; and 12 Great Grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cozad Bible Church 1602 Avenue O, Cozad, NE, with Pastor JC Calhoun officiating. Burial is at Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1 pm to 8 pm with family receiving friends from 6 pm to 8 pm at Berryman Funeral Home.
