Kelva L. Devine passed away Friday, April 10, 2026 at Meadowlark Pointe in Cozad at the age of 95. Kelva was born September 3, 1930 in Cozad, Nebraska to Elijah and Clara (Frazier) Beans. She was the fifth of six children. She grew up on a farm north of Cozad.
Kelva married Gilbert Devine on March 16, 1949. Gib and Kelva were blessed with three children: Randy, Steve and Judy. They lived south of Cozad where they spent their lives farming and ranching. Kelva was a faithful member of Cozad United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and attended Circle. She volunteered at the Thrift Store for many years. She was a great cook. She loved to bake, garden, can and crochet. Kelva enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She was an avid sports fan, especially Husker volleyball and the Kansas City Royals. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Nothing made her happier.
Kelva was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; son, Randy; parents, Erwin and Clara Beans; brothers, Dale, Kenneth and Leroy Beans; sisters, Lorraine Higgens and Gloralie Vikre.
She is survived by son, Steve (Barb) Devine; daughter, Judy Devine; daughter-in-law, Karen Devine; grandkids, Justin Devine, Tracy (Andy) Goodyear, Ryan Devine, Cory (Emily) Devine; great grandkids, Brandon, Jackson (Brianna), and Ashley Goodyear, Grayson, Aleigha, Sophie, Wesley and Barrett Devine; great granddaughter, Kodi Grace Goodyear.

Memorials are suggested to Cozad United Methodist Church or Central Plains Home Health and Hospice. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
