Kate York

Kathleen “Kate” York passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Kate was born on October 29, 1959 to Kenneth “Bud” and Jennie (Stawar) York. She was raised in Cozad, where she attended school and graduated from Cozad High School in 1977. Following high school, she continued her education through college studies in Wyoming and Colorado.

Kate worked as a paralegal in both Denver and Kearney. She also worked for Morris Press Cookbooks in Kearney. She was known for her intelligence and attention to detail.

Kate loved sports and was a loyal fan of the Colorado Buffaloes and the Denver Broncos. She also loved sunshine and warm weather and was well known among family and friends for the countless hours she happily spent sunbathing and enjoying sunny days outdoors.

Kate and her parents enjoyed spending several winters in San Diego, where they traveled up and down the California coast together, creating many happy memories along the way.

A true follower of current events, Kate was an avid consumer of news and politics and always stayed informed on the issues of the day. She never hesitated to share her opinions and was known for being outspoken about her political views, reflecting her strong personality and independent spirit.

Kate was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth “Bud” York and Jennie York.

Kate will be remembered for her wit, independence, and the lasting impression she made on those who knew her. Her memory will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
