Julie Elizabeth Keller

Julie Keller, a woman whose warmth filled every room she entered and whose love left no one untouched, passed away on August 30, 2026. She was 70.

Born January 21, 1956, in McCook, Nebraska, Julie was raised in Stratton as the youngest of five daughters of John and Julia Diehl. She graduated from Stratton High School in 1974 and briefly attended Kearney State College. Those who knew her then remember a lively, adventurous streak — a wild side that never fully faded.

On May 30, 1987, she married Bill Keller, the love of her life. Together they made a home in Eustis, Nebraska, and spent nearly four decades as partners in every sense—farmers and ranchers who built a thriving cattle feedlot from the ground up, and parents who raised four sons with fierce pride and steady devotion. Work was never just work for Julie. It was another way she showed up for the people she loved.

She was the heartbeat of her family. She was patient, forgiving, and compassionate. She always had a project: remodeling a room, restoring a house in town, or leading Wurst Tag committees. She was generous and charitable in her community, but her greatest gifts were closer to home. She was never too busy for her nine grandchildren—Beckett and Jace; Skylar and Wyatt; Elle, Isla, and Ivy; Krue and Kennedy—and she waited with joy for the tenth, expected in November. She stepped fully into their world, the way only a grandmother who delights in children can.

Julie had a glowing personality: generous, brilliant, fun-loving, positive, and tirelessly hard-working. She loved to travel, loved the lake, loved dancing, flowers, music, and a good margarita. Those who knew her remember the light she carried—easy laughter, an open table, and a way of making ordinary days feel like occasions.

In her final years, it became clear that she had given her life to Jesus. She knew Him, and she knew where she was going.

Julie is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, William Keller; her sons Justin Keller, Chad (Nichole) Keller, Weston (Julia) Keller, and Landon (Morgan) Keller; her cherished grandchildren; her mother, Julia (Vachuta) Diehl; her mother-in-law Nancy (Jobman) Keller; her sisters Michelle (Dan) Schram, Debra (John) Glasco, Connie (Tom) Henry, and Becky (Cloid) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who were better for having known her.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Diehl; and father-in-law Wayne Keller.

A life well lived is not measured only in years, but in the people who still feel her presence when the music starts, when the flowers bloom, and when the family gathers around the table she always made room at.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Eustis following a private, family Graveside Service. Pastor Kathy Gundell and Pastor Steve Berke will officiate the services. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the Eustis Area Community Foundation Fund.
