Joseph Eugene Donahue

July 12, 1967 — January 13, 2022

Loving husband, father, and papa, Joseph (Joe) Donahue’s love didn’t come to an end with his death. It continues to live inside the hearts of each and every person who had the pleasure to be touched by his friendship, generosity, and passion for life. Joe left this world peacefully on January 13, 2022, but his love and memories live on.

Joe was known to live life to the fullest. He made every single moment count, and he made every second special. He had a way of making you feel like you are the most powerful, capable, and worthy person on the planet. From his passion for his work to his amazing feat of conquering cancer, he always made the time to show everyone he knew what truly matters in life– family. In his final days, he shared “I feel like the most loved man in the world right now.” His statement couldn’t be any more true.

Joe had a habit of talking in catch phrases. He always said, “I know a guy.” He will be remembered for his strong faith in this man that he knows as his heavenly father. There is no doubt that he is up in heaven now sitting in his recliner, catching the game, and finally getting to thank his savior for the wonderful life he lived. Although, we wouldn’t put it past him to cause a little commotion up there about those referees. Hopefully, there are no noise complaints in heaven.

He will be remembered as a hero– to his wife, Mary Donahue, his daughters, Bridgette Kirkover and Bailey Donahue, and his four grandchildren, Elena Kirkover, Caspian Kirkover, Marceline Kirkover, and Naya Griffis. His oldest grandchild, Elena, reminds us daily that her Papa is in all of our hearts reminding us to “Never give up. Keep trying.” His legacy will continue to live on and grow in all of us and in the future generations to come.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Ed Donahue; sister, Mary Ann Brown and step father, Jim Dinsmore. He is lovingly survived by his mother, Amy Dinsmore of MO; wife, Mary Donahue of Cozad; daughters, Bridgette (Jason) Kirkover of Kearney and Bailey Donahue of Gothenburg; grandchildren, Elena, Caspian and Marceline Kirkover and Naya Griffis; sisters, Amy Bucy of MO and Jennifer Donahue of MO; brothers, Vance (Karen) Donahue of KS and Bill Donahue of KS; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
