Joseph Allen Spotanski

April 30, 1952 — February 12, 2022

Joseph “Joe” Spotanski passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2022 at his home in Cozad, Nebraska at the age of 69.

Joe was born in Loup City, Nebraska, to Bruno & Janet Elaine (Whitehead) Spotanski and was raised there on the farm with his 9 siblings. Loup City was always a home he hoped to get back to.

After high school Joe was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After the Army he worked in construction and farming in Bridgeport, Nebraska, where he married, before moving to Cozad in 1982. In Cozad, Joe continued to hold various ag related jobs, as well as working several years at Nebraska Plastics. He was a hard worker, a trait he passed on to his children. Joe spoke his own language but for those who could understand him he always had a story to tell and he never knew a stranger. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his children, Mandy (Bud) Swanson of Cozad, Amy (Jimmy) Laws of Lincoln & Austin (Kim) Spotanski of Cozad and was a very proud Grandpa to Madison Rowley, Easton Swanson, James Laws & Aiden Spotanski. Other family that will remember him forever are siblings Frank (Linda) Spotanski of Shelton, Mary Nelsen of Hastings, Connie Spotanski of Broken Bow, Cathy (Harlan) Dusin of Speed, KS, Martha Spotanski of Broken Bow, Jerry (Lin) Spotanski of Plattsmouth, Fred (Jody Horner) Spotanski of Loup City, Alice Connely of Broken Bow, Bob Spotanski of Aurora, Special Friend Lisa Phillips and many, many, many, many nieces and nephews. His dog Smokey and cat Fluffy will miss him dearly.

Joe was greeted in heaven by his mom and dad.
