Gwendolyn Joy Debban

Gwendolyn J. Debban passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha at the age of 92. Gwen was born February 2, 1929 in Elwood, Nebraska to Francis and May (Moncrief) Bannister. Following her high school graduation, she went on to earn a teaching certificate. On May 29, 1949 she married her childhood sweetheart, Dale Debban. Their union was blessed with 4 children, Cynthia, David, Douglas, and Donald. Gwen worked as a bookkeeper at a lumber yard for many years. She was a long time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Elwood. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Donald and Edward Bannister, her husband of 56 years Dale Debban, granddaughter Monica Rose Debban, father -in-law Richard Debban, mother-in-law Hedwig Koitsch Debban, 7 brother-in-laws, and 6 sister-in-laws. Survivors include her daughter Cynthia Petermann (Marlin) of Omaha, sons David Debban (Shelley) of Hickman, Douglas Debban (Donna) of Lincoln, Donald Debban (Robin) of Elwood, 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Meridee Debban, and a host of nieces and nephews who were very special to her.

Memorials are suggested to Special Olympics, Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to the family for later designation. Services will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
