Ethel E. Meyers

Ethel E. Meyers of Cozad passed away August 7, 2018 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 93. Ethel was born February 3, 1925 in Frontier County, Nebraska to Charles and Louise (Silberman) Rader. She attended rural grade schools in Gosper County and graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1943. Ethel achieved her teaching degree and taught in Frontier and Gosper county for a few years. On June 29, 1947 she married Ambrose W. Meyers at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Eustis, Nebraska. They made their home north of Arapahoe, Nebraska and farmed for many years. They would move to Arapahoe, Nebraska in 1975, where Ethel worked at the Good Samaritan Society Home until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ambrose; son, Leon Meyers; granddaughter, Elizabeth Meyers; 3 sisters, Ella Stevens, Erna Stone, and Verna Stagemeyer; daughter-in-law, Rita Meyers and great grandson, Jackson DeOss. Survivors include her sons, Charles (Kay) Meyers of Red Cloud and Daniel (Julie) Meyers of Kearney; daughters, Linda (David) DeOss of Columbus and Sharol (Gary) Banzhaf of Cozad; daughter-in-law, Florence Rozendal of Grand Island; grandchildren, Craig (Dawn) Meyers of Roseland, Taunya (Neil) Tamppari of MS, Kevin (Rachell) Meyers of Grand Island, Anthony (Barb) Meyers of Lincoln, Cindy Buettner of Hastings, Mark (Tera) Rozendal of Grand Island, Ryan Rozendal of Grand Island, John (Kristi) DeOss of Norfolk, Rebecca (Zachary) Kinnison of Omaha, Cody (Stephanie) Banzhaf of Albion, Kyle Banzhaf of Gothenburg, Brooke Banzhaf (fiance, Gordon Thiessen) of Gordon; step grandchildren, Brandon Erickson of Kearney, Colby Erickson of Kearney, Amanda Erickson of Omaha; 25 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother, Harold (Joyce) Rader of CO; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Services will be held Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Eustis with Vicar Kathy Gundell officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, north of Arapahoe. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 pm with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 pm at St. John Lutheran Church. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
