Dwight B. Devine

Listen to Obituary

Dwight B. Devine passed away on May 28, 2026 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 81. He lived a quiet and steady life, marked by a deep love for his family. Although not one to seek out many people, Dwight cherished a few close friends deeply. Above all, he loved his family with a quiet and fierce devotion.

Dwight was born on April 24, 1945 at Riverside, California to Lloyd and L. Marie (McMahon) Devine. He grew up in Cozad, Nebraska, and graduated from Cozad High School. After his schooling, he worked at Doc's 66 Service Station and Nebraskaland Tire, before moving on to Paulsen Inc. Ash Grove, where he dedicated many years until his retirement. His work life reflected his steady, dependable nature.

Dwight married Jann Kloepping on June 22, 1963. Their union was blessed with son, Bobby and twin daughters, Janna and Lanna.

Outside of work, Dwight found joy in several hobbies. In the 1970s, he was a drag racer, and later, in the mid to late 1990s, he took part in stock car racing. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching Husker Volleyball. Dwight also had a fondness for Peppermint Schnapps and cared deeply for his daughter’s dog, Petey.

Dwight will be remembered for his steady presence and the quiet strength of his love for those close to him. Those who knew him well also remember his loud and highly contagious laugh, and his occasional ornery side!

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jann; daughter, Lanna Devine Urban; brothers, Keith and Rodney Devine.

Dwight is survived by his son, Bobby Devine; daughter, Janna Prahl; grandchildren, Presley Prahl and Riley Slater; son-in-law Rob Urban; son-in-law, Ryder Prahl; beloved dog Petey; sisters, Marilyn (Rob) Altmar and Laurie (Larry) Landercasper; sister-in-law, Sharon Kloepping; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
