Doris Virginia Schock

Doris Virginia Matz Schock entered heaven on May 18, 2019 at Firth, Nebraska. Doris was born July 19, 1920 in Cozad, Nebraska to Gustavus and Jua Ashby Matz. She attended school in Cozad, graduating from Cozad High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University where she majored in Speech. She taught school at Loup City prior to her marriage to J. Oliver Schock. The couple moved to Garden City, Long Island ,New York where they resided for 15 years. Her son and two daughters were born in New York. The family moved to Claremont, California where they enjoyed the change of climate and a third daughter was born. Doris particularly enjoyed Europe and Hawaii among her world travels. She was chair of the Methodist Church Bazaar in Pacific Palisades, CA for over 40 years and continued to enjoy crafting, sewing and quilting after moving to Lincoln, NE in 2017 to reside with her son Steven and wife Patricia. She is also survived by daughters Laurel L. Schock of Pismo Beach, California, Deborah (Tim) Van Valin of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Judith K. Cooper of Carpinteria, California. Grandchildren are Andrew K. Schock (Melissa) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Maryl C. Sattler (Ryan) of Omaha, Nebraska, Jocelyn King (Seth) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Matthew C. Schock of Denver, Colorado, Nate Van Valin (Rachel) of Spokane, Washington, Timothy Van Valin (Annie) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Luke Van Valin (Caitlyn) of Denver, Colorado, Tracy Vidal (Tom) of Los Angeles, California, and Grant Cooper of Ventura, California, Great grandchildren are Oliver King of Lincoln, Nebraska and baby girl King to be born in June in Lincoln; Ethan Sattler of Omaha, Nebraska; Ryder, Sage and Emilia Van Valin of Spokane; Porter and Jase Van Valin of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Lochryn and Mac Van Valin of Denver, Colorado; Thomas, Cooper, Noelle and Scarlett Vidal of Los Angeles, California. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cozad Cemetery with Rev. Sharon McCormick officiating.
