Dennis D. Rupe of Eustis passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 86. Dennis was born on April 13, 1939, near Eustis, Nebraska to Irvin "Jake" and Mabel (Balcom) Rupe. Dennis graduated from Eustis High School with the class of 1957. He served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his dedication to his country.
Dennis dedicated his life to farming after taking over the family farm. He devoted 35 years as a seed corn salesman for NC+ (Channel Seed), bringing his expertise and passion to the agricultural community. He carried the values of hard work and commitment throughout his life. In 1960, he married Jane Toberer, and together they raised two sons, Scott and Shannon. Dennis was a loving husband, father and an adoring grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren.
His faith was an essential part of his life, as he was a faithful and devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he also served on the church council board. His community involvement extended beyond the church; he was an active member of the Eustis Fair Board, the Frontier County FSA Board, and the Rural Fire Department Board, always aiming to contribute to the well-being of his community.
In his free time, Dennis enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. These hobbies brought him joy and were often shared with his family, reinforcing the bonds of love and togetherness he held dear.
Dennis leaves behind many fond memories in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy is one of hard work, devotion to family, and a deep sense of community service. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jane and sister Janet Smith. Survivors include his sons, Scott (Jodi) Rupe of Eustis and Shannon (Julie) Rupe of Eustis; grandchildren, Calvin (Amber) Rupe of Blue Hill, Joleen (Anson) Hueftle of Elkhorn, Hayden (Taylor Buescher) of Eustis, Jacob (Sadie Fales) of Eustis; great grandchildren, Landry, Jensyn, Leighton, Jarrett.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Eustis Fair Board or the Eustis Fire and Rescue. Services will be held Monday, July 28, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at East Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
