Charles Edward Mladek Jr.

Charles Edward Mladek Jr. of Cozad, Nebraska passed away Friday, June 19, 2026 at Emerald Nursing and Rehab at the age of 75.

Charles Edward Mladek Jr. (Eddie) son of Charles Edward Mladek Sr. and Violet Virginia Mladek (Dishman) was born in Cozad Nebraska on February 19th 1951. 

In Eddie’s younger years, he went to school until the 9th grade before beginning work at the Cozad hay mill with his father Charlie. He then went on to work for Walkers roofing company before starting his own roofing and house moving business. He was a wonderful father to his kids Frank Mladek, Allen Mladek, Meranda Mladek, Brandi Coufal, and Jay Witthuhn. He had a passion for raising Greyhounds and Jack Russell’s, in his free time he would take them hunting with his kids. Eddie also had a great passion for raising and rescuing horses, there was no horse in his eyes that wasn’t breakable or didn’t deserve a second chance, he was a true cowboy. Once his grand kids came along he didn’t hesitate to show them how to develop a love for animals, he taught them without hesitation and with full patience how to ride horses. He’d wait for them daily to come out to the farm and ask him to reach into his pocket for a hand full of mints to feed the horses as they were the horse’s favorite treats. In Eddie’s later years he helped his dad Charlie take care of his birds when it became too hard for Charlie to do it himself. Eddie was always willing to lend a hand to whoever needed it.

He is survived by his sisters: Vicky Kruse and Charlotte (Rick) Tabor, kids: Frank Mladek, Meranda Mladek, Brandi Coufal, Jay Witthuhn and his daughter in law Barb Mladek, grandkids: Aubree Mladek, Jesse Mladek, and Emma Mladek, Kelsey (Axel) Cassel, Dylynn (Suzie) Coufal and Asiahn Mladek, great grandkids: Tenleigh Malcom, Dawsyn Cassel, Raelynn Coufal, a sweet baby girl Charlie Lucille Mladek due November 30th 2026, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Edward Mladek Sr, and Violet Virginia Mladek, two brothers Frank and Allen Mladek and son Allen Mladek.

A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, July 3, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Cozad Cemetery.
