Billy G. Marhenke of Cozad passed away Monday, November 14, 2022 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 73. Bill was born May 1, 1949 in Hebron, Nebraska to Carroll Kay and Dolly (Thompson) Marhenke. The family moved to Cozad in 1963 where Bill graduated from high school with the class of 1968. He entered the U.S. Navy on April 14, 1969 and served during the Vietnam War. Bill married Carolyn Lee on August 3, 1976. Their union was blessed with 2 children, Chadd and Angie. He worked for Fasse Building and Supply, City of Cozad Street Dept., Jim and Jeff Klein, and Gruber Painting. Bill was an avid Husker fan. He enjoyed painting, listening to the oldies, and loved to hate his cat Sly. His most treasured times were spent with family and friends and attending his grandkids activities. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Denise Doshier; niece, Alicia Rose Balsick and grandma, Wilma Ruth Canning Marhenke. Survivors include his son, Chadd (Tanna) Marhenke and their children, Kadyn and Graci Marhenke; his daughter, Angie (Jim) Reed and their children, Isaac and Brady Reed; siblings, Lana Grist, Marianne Marhenke-Balsick, Cheryl LaCombe, Steve (Teresa) Beisner, Michael (Donna) Beisner and Jeff (Jen) Marhenke.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Friday, November 18, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation with family present will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
