Betty L. Vogt

Betty Lloyd Malcom Vogt, age 91, was born on November 5, 1934, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Blanche and Leslie Lloyd Sr. She passed away surrounded by the love of the family and friends who meant so much to her throughout her remarkable life.

On July 12, 1951, Betty married Dale Malcom. Together they built a life filled with hard work, laughter, adventure, and family. They were blessed with three children: Deb, Dave and Don.

Betty loved serving others. Her home was always open, her table always had room for one more, and her heart always had space for anyone who needed a friend. She was the life of every gathering and perhaps the world’s greatest prankster, a gift she proudly passed on to her children and grandchildren.

A tireless worker, Betty was a true partner in every endeavor Dale pursued. Whether it was farming, Coaches Corner, racehorses, outhouse races, dart tournaments, bowling leagues, Skip-Bo games, Yahtzee competitions, or golf, Betty brought enthusiasm, talent, determination, and a healthy competitive spirit. Her quick wit, infectious laugh, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

More than anything, Betty treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rarely missing an event, she could be found cheering from the sidelines at ball games, track meets, wrestling tournaments, volleyball and basketball games, swim meets, and piano recitals. Often armed with her oversized camcorder, she faithfully recorded the action while providing her own colorful narration from behind the lens.

Betty had a gift for finding joy in life’s simple pleasures and rarely had a bad day. Material possessions meant little to her compared to the richness of time spent with family and friends. She cultivated lifelong friendships and loved fiercely and loyally. If Betty was your friend, she was your friend forever.

Following Dale’s passing in 2003, Betty found companionship and happiness once again when she married Henry Vogt in 2006. Together they enjoyed many wonderful years on the farm north of Gothenburg. They loved entertaining family and friends. Sharing late-evening coffee at Cubby’s, attending grandchildren’s activities, and spending time with those they loved.

Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale Malcom and Henry Vogt; her daughter, Debra; her son-in-law, Alan; her stepdaughter, Danette; her grandson, Matthew Paulsen; her parents, her brothers, Leslie Lloyd Jr., Bill Lloyd and wife JoAnn, Bob Lloyd and wife Esther, Gene Lloyd; and an infant brother.

She is survived by her sons, Dave (Marilee) Malcom of Cozad, Don (Gayla) Malcom of Sundance Wyoming, stepsons, Henry Kirk Vogt of Gothenburg, Robert (Mary) Vogt of Thedord, her grandchildren, Candi (Willis) Gibbens, Jared (Jessica) Paulsen, Zane (Joscelyn) Malcom, Bronson (Melissa) Malcom, Brooke (Ross) Huxoll, Brennon (Kylee) Malcom; Henry’s grandchildren, Justin (Brittany) Gibbens, Christopher ( Jamie) Vogt, Hobir (Jessica) Vogt, Abigail Vogt and Gabe Vogt. Great-grandchildren, Cody Briggs, Autym (Brian) Kosiski, Devin Lee, Jonathan (Tanya Sue) Lee, Dale Paulsen, Stella Paulsen, Brock Malcom, Braelyn Malcom, Brantley Malcom, Brenleigh Huxoll, Briony Huxoll, Maddux Malcom, Sloane Malcom, Myer Malcom and Ridge Malcom; Vogt great grandchildren, Alex Vogt, Emerson Vogt and Theo Vogt, Great-great grandchildren Averie Briggs, Ruger Lee and Benjamin Kosiski, Jace and Bo Jon Lee. They were the pride and joy of her life; along with many beloved extended family members and dear friends, whose lives were enriched by her love, laughter, and unwavering friendship.

Betty’s legacy is one of generosity, joy, resilience, and devotion to family. She taught those around her how to work hard, laugh often, and cherish the people who matter most. Her stories, her humor, and her boundless love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 9 a.m. until service. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Cozad Grand Generation Center.
