Alice E. Herrick of Cozad passed away on April 21, 2025, at Emerald Care Nursing at the age of 77. Alice was born on October 10, 1947 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Vernon and Grace (Nutt) Shepherd. She graduated from Curtis High School with the class of 1965.
For over 35 years, Alice dedicated herself to her career at Monroe Auto in Cozad, where she became a familiar and respected face. Alice's greatest pride, however, came from her family. She married Joe Herrick on July 10, 1966, in Stockville, Nebraska. Their union was blessed with 2 daughters, Sue and Angie, and together they built a life filled with love and warmth.
Alice was known for her exceptional cooking skills. Family gatherings often revolved around her delicious homemade meals, and she gained a reputation for her famous homemade pizza. Every Christmas, she brought joy to her loved ones with her traditional wassail.
Outside of cooking, Alice had many hobbies. She enjoyed cross-stitching and woodworking, especially making cutouts of animals. She also had a keen interest in target shooting and attended various gun shows, proudly representing her membership with the Eustis Gun Club.
Alice was a warm and affectionate person, always quick to give her family hugs and comfort. She cherished her family above all else, and her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Ramona Schievelbein; and brother-in-law Jerry Herrick. Survivors include her daughters, Sue Britt of Gothenburg and Angela (Matt) Buesing of Gothenburg; grandchildren, Hali (Tom) Oyler of Cozad, Ashley Herrick of Gothenburg, Logan (Destinie) Cashman of Gothenburg, Tyler Buesing of Gothenburg, Kenya Buesing of Kearney, and Xavier McBride of Gothenburg; 11 great grandchildren; sister Norma (Dave) Greeley of Hershey; brothers Wayne (Carol) Shepherd of Broken Bow, Duane (Brenda) Shepherd of Brady; sister Darlene Pierson of North Platte; sister-in-law Lorraine Herrick of Champion; Brother-in-law Louis (Diane) Herrick of North Platte.
