Max J. Bartruff

Max J. Bartruff of Eustis passed away March 6, 2017 at Kearney Regional Medical Center at the age of 88. Max was born July 26, 1928 in Eustis, Nebraska to Louis and Marie (Lang) Bartruff. He graduated from Eustis High School with the class of 1945. Max married Suzanne Gadeke on November 29, 1953. The couple made their home on the Bartruff family farm and were blessed with 4 children, Connie, Leann, Jodi and Kyle. Max was proud to be part of the agricultural industry and spent his entire life farming. He served on the Frontier County ASCS Committee, and was on the Soil Conservation Board. He was involved with anything to do with farming and soil. When he was no longer able to farm, he went to work for Cenex delivering fertilizer and fixing small pumps. Max was a faithful and devoted member of the United Methodist Church of Eustis. He taught Sunday School, was a council member, sang in the choir and was a leader for the youth league. He served on the School Board for Eustis Public Schools and assisted with football and basketball games. Max will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Warren and Wayne. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Suzanne of Eustis; his children, Connie (George) Irwin of Sacramento, CA, Leann (Mike) Karr of Wichita, KS, Jodi (Scott) Rupe of Eustis and Kyle (Kelly) Bartruff of Eustis; grandchildren, Jared (Nicole) Easterday of Oakland, CA, Jennifer (Sergi) Mansilla of Barcelona, Spain, Kelsey (Zack) Hall of Henderson, NV, Jana (Jon) Miner of Cobleskill, NY, Matthew (Lorin) Karr of Commerce City, CO, Calvin (Amber) Rupe of Hastings, Joleen (Anson) Hueftle of Elkhorn and McKenzie Bartruff of Eustis; great grandchildren, Jack Easterday, Josie Easterday, Adriá Mansilla, Seth Karr, Kingston Hall, Scarlett Gray, Timber Miner, River Miner and Landry Rupe; sister, Mary Lou (Wayne) Rodehorst of Hampton Virginia and many other nieces, nephews and extended family. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church of Eustis or to the Eustis Foundation/Wellness Center designation. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Eustis with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Burial will be at the East Cemetery in Eustis. Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2017 from 4 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at the First United Methodist Church in Eustis. Berryman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
