Tamra S. Lemmon

Tamra Sue (Naylor) Lemmon, 56 of Cozad, NE, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, July 24th, 2016, at her home at Midway Lake, south of Cozad. Tamra was born May 12, 1960, to Garlyn Ross Naylor and Verla Kay (Hemphill) Naylor at Cozad Hospital. Tami attended Cozad Public School and graduated with the Haymaker Class of 1978. During her teens she was employed at the Red Rooster Café in Cozad. After graduating high school she worked for Paulsen Inc., in Cozad for a period of time. During this time she met the love of her life Rick Lemmon Thanksgiving Day 1979. The couple embarked on a life-long career in the cattle business with Rick’s family Dale, Lois and Rick’s brother Brad and wife Susie. Tami spent countless hours bottle feeding and inventorying cattle at the feedlot. Tami decided she had an interest in business and financing and returned to college graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 3.9 GPA from the University of Nebraska at Kearney earning her Certified Public Accounting degree. She then began helping manage finances and bookkeeping at the feedlot. After a seven year courtship, Rick and Tami were married August 30, 1986, at Johnson Lake at the weekend cabin of her parents. The couple then resided on a farm just northwest of Cozad. There, they enjoyed farm life with their dogs, cats, calves and special Beefalo that Tami raised from a calf. Also during this time Tami and Rick had several adventures on their Harley Davidson motorcycle. They traveled to Sturgis, through Arizona, Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Texas and Utah with their closest biker friends and enjoyed trips to Redwing, MN. Later the couple found a great location in which to raise their family at Midway Lake, south of Cozad. This was a great project home and they began creating the home that they had always imagined sharing together. On Valentine’s Day 1996, they were blessed with a son, Kevin Clay Lemmon. Kevin was Tami’s life as she showered him with love and support. Her passion for taking photographs of Kevin growing was prevalent and he will be able to cherish those memories as he looks back on her life as his mother. Throughout her life she enjoyed spending time with family doing numerous activities. Some of her favorites included being on the lake skiing, swimming, jet skiing; tae kwon do; attending to her canine and feline friends; listening to classic rock music, tending to her flower beds, photography and just finding the beauty in nature. She also had a special place in her heart for helping others who were facing difficult times. She was a great listener and would help try to solve problems others were facing. After losing her father and several other family members to cancer, she involved herself to help in the fight against cancer by joining an American Cancer Society Relay for Life team and baked several items for bake sales each year. She was preceded in death by her father, Garlyn (Bud) Naylor; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Lois Lemmon and brother-in-law, Brad Lemmon. She leaves to mourn her husband, Rick Lemmon and son, Kevin Lemmon; mother, Verla Kay Naylor; brother, Steve and wife Barb Naylor, all of Cozad; brother Stan Naylor and wife Jennie of Phoenix, AZ; nieces and nephews, Sandy (Ty) Phillips of Arnold, NE; Carrie Naylor, Bertrand; Bryan Naylor, Cozad and Shannon Lemmon of Bassett, NE; sister-in-law, Susie Block of Cozad; aunts Clara Lantz and Pauline Coover, both of Lexington; and numerous cousins. A memorial book signing will be Friday, July 29, 2016, at Berryman Funeral Home, 620 E. 22nd St., or north on Newell St. in Cozad, from 1-5 p.m. with family receiving friends and family from 3-5 p.m. Memorial Services will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Church of Christ, 2117 Newell St., Cozad at 2 p.m. with Pastor James McCrickard offciating. A memorial has been established in Tami’s name and will be designated at a later date.
