Anthony 'Tony' C. Kappes

Anthony C. 'Tony' Kappes passed away July 23, 2016 at Greeley, Colorado at the age of 51. Tony was born on September 17, 1964 at Ashley, North Dakota to Clyde and Marietta (Rohrbach) Kappes. He attended school in Ashley and graduated with the class of 1983. Tony joined the Army National Guard and served for 8 years. On August 23, 1986, he married Sherry Schauer at Wishek, North Dakota. They were blessed with 4 sons, Anthony Jacob, Benjiman Joeseph, Jacob John and Joeseph James. The family moved to the Cozad area in 1989. Tony worked mostly in construction throughout his life. He liked keeping busy, even on his day off, and would always find something constructive to work on. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and had excellent cooking skills. Tony loved the 4th of July and made sure everyone in the neighborhood had fireworks. His most treasured times were spent with family and friends. He will be missed by many. Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents; his brother, Michael and his son, Jacob. Survivors include his parents, Clyde and Marietta Kappes of Ashley, ND; 3 sons, Anthony (Amanda Valenzuela) Kappes, Benjiman (Katrina) Kappes and Joey Kappes, all of Cozad; sister, Margaret (Jeff) Williams of Streeter, ND; brother, Elmer (Carie) Kappes of Eureka, SD; 3 granddaughters, Tritny Ann Kappes, Braylynn Rose Kappes, Addylin Rose Kappes and another granddaughter on the way; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Al Jesseph officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Ashley, North Dakota at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 3 to 6 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
