Avon Arms

Avon L. Arms, 76 of Cozad, passed away March 3, 2016 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. Avon was born December 26, 1939 at Oxford, Nebraska to Leo and Greta (Fisher) Arms. He graduated from Oxford High School and attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for Engineering. He was a proud father to six children. Avon broke horses for Dawson Feeders and at home for many years. He loved spending time riding pens on his horse. He enjoyed gardening and was blessed with a 'Green Thumb'. Avon was an avid Husker fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son Danny. Survivors include his children, Chris Arms of Arapahoe, Tammy (Mike) Sock of Clay Center, Dionne Grindle of Sterling, CO, Randy (Dawn) Arms of Apache, AR and Tera (Tim) Massie of Gothenburg; grandchildren, Veronica (Chris), Danielle, Brian, Janessa, Ben, Monique, Kennison, John and Mercedes; and a sister, Levonne of FL. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Inurnment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Monday from 1 to 5 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
