Amelia 'Millie' Cardenas

Amelia 'Millie' Cardenas, age 70 of Cozad, passed away September 30, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Amelia was born February 27, 1945 at North Platte, Nebraska to Julio and Anita (Ponce) Carrizales. She attended school in North Platte and worked at TRW for 6 years. Amelia married Paul Cardenas in 1967 and was a stay at home mother while the kids were young. She worked at Monroe Auto in Cozad until her retirement. She received an award for 35 years of employment. Amelia enjoyed cooking for her family, playing Bingo in Gothenburg, Cozad and Lexington. She loved dancing at family reunions, at the VFW and other family gatherings. She also enjoyed listening to her favorite 50's and 60's music. Amelia's most treasured time's were spent with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother; 4 brothers, Frank, Manuel, John and Michael; 3 nieces, Jennifer, Jasmine and Catina; and numerous aunts and uncles. Survivors include her husband Paul of Cozad; daughter Annette of Mississippi; 2 sons, Paul of Cozad and Adam of Kearney; father, Julio Carrizales of Cozad; 2 sisters, Andrea Carrizales of Kearney and Irene Sundstrom of North Platte; brother, Julian Carrizales of North Platte; grandchildren, Erica Hansen, Heather, Daryl, Paula, Dominic, Mary, Morgan, Annette, Lauryn, Jayman and Anastasia Cardenas; 5 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Cremation was chosen. Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Father Mike Pampara officiating. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
