Robert 'Bob' McNett, age 65 of Cozad passed away peacefully at his home on September 22, 2015, following a brief battle with cancer. Robert Nelson McNett was born January 23, 1950 in Highland, Kansas to Robert Edwin and Hattie Margaret (Clifton) McNett. Bob grew up in Severance, Kansas and graduated from Midway High School with the class of 1968. After high school, Bob made his way to Nebraska where he met and married Denise Linner. They later divorced. On September 1, 1979, Bob married Julie Mayo at the Chapel of the Lake at Johnson Lake. To this union two sons were born, Justin Lee and Joseph Robert. Bob and Julie made their home in Cozad where Bob worked at Tenneco Automotive until his retirement in 2011. He then worked a couple of years at Alco after retiring. Bob never knew a stranger. He always had time to stop and visit with everyone. Bob was a Charter Member of the Cozad Christian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon and active member in various activities through the years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, playing golf with his boys and tinkering in his garage. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters, his family and his many cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth McNett; great niece, Kaeliauna Young; nephew, Jacob Wessel and mother-in-law, Iola Mayo. Bob is survived by his wife of 36 years, Julie; his sons, Justin (Jessica) of Omaha, NE and Joe (Anna) of Plattsmouth, NE; two granddaughters, Lorelai and Kelti of Omaha; two brothers, Richard McNett and Gerald Crigger, both of Hiawatha, KS; three sisters, Rose Ann (John) Kreuzburg and Phyllis LeRow, both of Hiawatha, KS and Susan (Mark) Wessel of Seneca, KS; father-in-law, Leland Mayo of Cozad; brother-in-law, Dennis Graning of Grand Island, NE; sister-in-law, Ann VanEvery of Hailey, ID; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Memorials are suggested to the Cozad Christian Church, Central Plains Home Health and Hospice or donor's choice. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cozad Christian Church with Pastor John States officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
