Tyler S. Aitken

November 14, 2000 — August 9, 2015

Tyler Sebastian Gilbert Aitken entered into Eternal Life on August 9, 2015 at the Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska from Hypoxic Ischemic Encephonopoly at the age of 14. Tyler was born November 14, 2000 in Cozad, Nebraska to Shannon Aitken and Amy Whyte (his birth mother). Tyler loved to watch Beetlejuice, Toy Story, Judge Judy, Drake & Josh, and Diner's Drive-In's and Dives. Tyler was an inspiration to every life he touched, his smile lit up any room he entered. He found joy in the simple things in life from simply watching his favorite movies to watching mom Shawna fold the clothes. He loved to play Monkey in the middle or baseball with his younger sisters. Tyler’s love poured out to those he loved and he had no problem giving those he didn’t care for a 'doink' if he felt they needed one. Tyler’s excitement for life and love radiated to those around him. He was tough as nails. There wasn’t a time he allowed his disabilities to cripple him, every illness, every hospital stay, and every surgery he managed to put on a brave face and never cried out in pain. He was the true definition of HERO. There wasn’t a time in his short life that he allowed the hard times to pull him down. Tyler’s dad was his best friend & caregiver, but most of all they were the true meaning of soul mates. There wasn’t a time his father didn’t know what was wrong or feel his pain or joy. Tyler was and always will be our SHINING STAR. Tyler was preceded in death by his grandfather, Steve Gilbert Aitken “Trailblazer". He is lovingly survived by his parents, Shannon and Shawna Aitken; siblings, Isabel Meyer (step-sister), Amelia Meyer (step-sister), Dylyn Wilburn (half-brother), Isybel Wilburn (half sister) and Gavyn Wilburn (half-brother); grandmothers; Dixie Aitken of Cozad, Sandy Whyte of Cozad; Steve & Stacey (uncle & aunt), Brittney & Blake Aitken (cousins) of Cozad, Jason & Kristy (uncle & aunt), Christopher Strohmyer (cousin) of Cozad, Mitch & Pam Buckley (great-aunt & uncle) Bobby & Brandon Buckley (cousins) of Gothenburg, Richard & Lucy Sabin (great-grandparents) of Cozad, Chelesta & Joe Hernandez (aunt & uncle), Joseph & Jacob Hernandez (cousin) of Minneapolis MN. A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John States officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery.
