Rosalie E. Lemmon

Rosalie Evelyn German Lemmon passed away May 15, 2015 at the Golden Living Center at the age of 102. She was a a month shy of 103 years old. She was born June 17, 1912 to George and Dorthea (Jensen) German, on their farm west of Cozad. On August 21, 1941, Rosalie married Donald Lemmon. They lived many years on the Lemmon farm West of Cozad. Rosalie had 6 children, 5 of which preceded her in death. Rosalie and Don became parents to Derek Lemmon after the death of their daughter Janis. Becoming a mother again at 58 kept both she and Don active and young. In 1960 she went to work at Dodd's Department Store and begin a career outside the home. She loved being around people. She loved fashion and always dressed like a model. She was famous for her pies baked at the Coffee Mug. Others will remember her from church where she enjoyed working with young people. She was blessed to be able to attend church right up to her final days. Rosalie was blessed with a wonderful sense of beauty and creativity that was manifested in flower gardening, sewing, crocheting and many other ways. Her failing eyesight in later years seriously restricted her creative activities. Rosalie participated in the Grand Generation Center for many years. There she was active in delivering Meals on Wheels, making noodles, helping with fund raisers and playing cards. Rosalie lived independently until she was 100 years old. She had a long life with many joys and sorrows, but always lived in the present, looking forward to the future, and never looking back. She is survived by daughter Connie (Wayne) Lord of Georgia and Derek Lemmon of Cozad; 8 grandchildren, Jill (Greg) Menke, Jeff Seybold, Jennifer (Rik) Gropp, Amy (Robert) Flury, Mitch Lord, Tom (Melissa) Lord, Don (Anna) Lord, and Sarah (Ryan) Mitchell; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; , her husband of 60 plus years, Donald Lemmon; 5 children, an infant son, and daughters,Donna, Jeanne Seybold, Gwen, and Janis; and siblings, Annie, George, Hilda Vasey, Harold, Erling, Albert, Alfred, Milo, Verna Hudson, Florence Smith, Jerold and Dick. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 8 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
