Elaine J. Geiger

Elaine J. Geiger, age 88 of Cozad, passed away March 4, 2015 at Mable Rose Estates in Papillion, Nebraska. Elaine was born August 15, 1926 at Eustis, Nebraska to William and Emelie (Berke) Rieker. She graduated from Cozad High School. Following graduation, she worked in Cheyenne, Wyoming and at Hanson and Waters in Cozad. On February 12, 1949, Elaine married Ralph Geiger at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis, Nebraska. Elaine and Ralph made their home on a farm north of Cozad, where they resided for 46 years. Elaine was an avid gardener and she and Ralph transformed the homestead into a show place. She was a homemaker while raising their children, and eventually went to work for Bob Warnke, helping at his insurance agency until her retirement. Elaine enjoyed gardening, oil painting, ceramics, arranging flowers, shopping and was an avid antique hunter. She loved traveling and was always ready to go on excursions. Survivors include her children, Kathy (Don) Wittler of Elkhorn, NE, Jim Geiger of Makawao, HI and Sandy (Henry Clark) Geiger of Glenwood, IA; grandchildren, Will (Carrie) Wittler, Jyl (Ritchie) Brown, Nikki Geiger and Ryan Clark; great grandchildren, Ethan and Macy Wittler and Parker, Alex and Easton Brown. She was preceded by her husband Ralph; her parents Bill and Emelie Rieker, and her stepmothers Gladys and Bertha Rieker. Services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Parsh officiating. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 at Berryman Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
