Jerry Olds

Jerald "Jerry" Olds age 70 of Cozad, passed away August 8, 2014 at his home with his wife by his side. Jerry was born May 29, 1944 at Gothenburg Nebraska to Harvey and Rose (Klein) Olds. Jerry graduated from Cozad High School in 1962. He joined the Army and did a tour of Vietnam. On returning to Nebraska he worked for Jim Marshall on a farm. He married Joyce Marie Raney February 14, 1972 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Muleshoe Texas. They lived on a farm outside of Cozad for years until it was time for a change and Jerry went to work for Monroe's and moved to town. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, playing cards, playing horseshoes and dancing. He enjoyed mechanics and taught Brandon to repair just about anything. His proudest moments were his wedding, the birth of his son and the addition of 3 grandsons. Jerry was preceded in death by parents Harvey and Rose (Klein) Olds, mother in law and father in law, Mary and Ed Edmiston, brother in law Larry Anderson, sister in law and brother in law Glenna and Tommy Sliger, and brother in law Wayne Raney. Surviving Jerry are his loving wife Joyce, son Brandon, daughter in law Jen, grandsons Jared, Tyler and James, brother Ron (Connie) Olds, sister Arnetta Anderson and friend Gary Fitzke, brother in law Lee (Linda) Raney and brother in law John (Denise) Raney and sister in law Patti Raney and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all that knew him. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association. Services will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 10 A M at Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Cozad Cemetery.
