Rosemary R. Schuchardt, age 91 of Cozad, passed away July 3, 2014 at her daughter's home at Gering, Nebraska. Rosemary was born November 11, 1922 in Sidney, Nebraska to Frank and Mary (Hodgeman) Alfter. She attended school at St. Pat's in Sidney, and was valedictorian of her senior class. Following graduation, Rosemary went to Chadron State College. On September 17, 1946 Rosemary married LeRoy Schuchardt in Sidney, Nebraska. They were blessed with 4 children, John, Jim, Joe and Janelle. The couple lived in several Nebraska communities before settling in Cozad in 1955. Rosemary taught elementary school in Cozad for many years. She served on the Wilson Public Library Board and Wilson Public Library Foundation Board for several terms. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of Christ the King Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy, brother John Alfter, and sisters Mabel Helfrich and Virginia Nicolas. Rosemary is lovingly survived by her children, John (Marion) Schuchardt of Bloomfield, NJ, Jim (Roxanne) Schuchardt of Omaha, NE, Joe Schuchardt of Denver, CO and Janelle (Wes) Mathews of Gering, NE; 4 grandsons, Scott, Nick, Matthew and Andrew, granddaughter, Michelle; 6 great grandchildren, Jayson, Zachary, Emma, Madelyn, Lily and Cooper; sister, Mildred Alfter of Sidney and many other relatives. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Cozad. Those attending Mass are asked to bring a bell to the service. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery. Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Berryman Funeral Home.
