Elaine Trembly

Elaine Northrup Trembly passed away peacefully June 27, 2014, at her home in Cozad, Nebraska at the age of 80 after a long brave battle with cancer. Elaine was born February 4, 1934, at St. Francis, Kansas to James and Ethel (Kellum) Northrup. She grew up in rural St. Francis and attended various schools in the area until December 1951, one semester shy of graduation. After moving to Cozad she received her GED. On December 31, 1951, Elaine married Jacob (Jake) Trembly. As newlyweds they lived in the St. Francis, KS area where their first two children were born. In 1955, they moved to Medicine Lodge, KS where 2 more children were born. Later they moved back to the St. Francis area. They moved to Cozad, NE in September of 1969. Elaine worked various jobs before joining Monroe Auto at Cozad. Elaine worked there 15 years before retiring from Monroe Auto in 1994. Elaine was a member of the Cozad Bible Church and the Gideon's Auxiliary. For many years she listened to students recite Bible memory verses at Awana Bible Club. She helped build houses on three mission trips to Mexico. She and Jake traveled to Africa to visit her daughter Sheryl and family in 2006. She prayed faithfully for her family. She was a wonderful hostess and supported many missionaries. She took great joy in knowing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending activities they were involved in. Family and friends were the benefactors in her hunt for new recipes. She embraced technology in her 70’s by getting an email account and recruited her grandchildren to teach her the ins and outs of using the computer. Elaine was an avid reader, seamstress and gardener. She also enjoyed helping Jake with his woodworking crafts. Elaine was an accomplished piano player. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Mona Cassens and Viola Cassens, 3 sisters-in-law: Cathy Sawyer, MayAnn Allen, Violet Moss, four brothers-in-law: Winn Cassens, Orval Cassens, Chuck Sawyer, Edgar Moss and one grandson : Adam Joseph Trembly. Elaine is lovingly survived by her husband Jake of Cozad; four children: Anita (Charles) Martin, Lexington, NE, Kent (Kathy) Trembly, Wahoo, NE , Sheryl (Greg) Fasse, Roswell, GA , Kevin (Sue) Trembly, Spring Hill, KS; 14 Grandchildren : Jeremy (Gail) Martin, Melissa (Christo) Philip, Bryce (Valerie) Martin, Jennifer (Ryan) Gross, Kristina Trembly, David (Lacy) Trembly, Amy (Mike) Klauer, Benjamin Trembly, Julie Fasse, Ian Trembly, Hannah Trembly, Alyssa Trembly, Jory Fasse, and Annika Trembly ; 11 great-grandchildren: Karuna, Luke, Vivek Philip, Chase, Regan, Kaitlin Martin, Landon, Callie Martin, Hadlee, Brandon, and Kale Trembly; and one brother: Norvin (Donna) Northrup. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2014, from 6-8 pm at the Cozad Bible Church. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Cozad Bible Church with Pastor JC Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow the service at Clough Valley Baptist Church, St. Francis, KS. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cozad Bible Church Building Fund , Gideon's and Central Plains Hospice in Cozad. Online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
