Velma L. Applegarth

Velma L. Applegarth, age 80 of Cozad, passed away November 6, 2013 at Cozad. She was born May 24, 1933 in McPherson County to Glenn Owen and Florence (Haddock) Newberry. Velma graduated from McPherson County High School in 1952 and later was united in marriage to Robert Applegarth on June 1, 1952 in North Platte. They moved to Cozad in 1968, where she was employed at Monroe Auto for over 27 years. Velma dearly loved her flowers and gardening. She was a member of the Cozad United Methodist Church in Cozad. Survivors include her husband Robert “Bob” Applegarth of Cozad, two daughters; Cheryl (Jim) Westman of Cozad and Glenda (Gary) Bera of Springfield, NE; son Bill (Doris) Applegarth of Cozad; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, and a grandson, Shannon Williamson. A memorial has been established in her memory. Services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Burial will be at the Cozad Cemetery.
