Clarence Charles Maack

CLARENCE C. MAACK Clarence Charles Maack, age 100 of Cozad, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Golden Living Care Center in Cozad. He enjoyed celebrating his 100th birthday on July 31st, 2012. Clarence was born July 31st 1912, on a farm north of Gothenburg to Frank and Clara (Kampfe) Maack. He attended the Walnut Grove Rural School District 34 north of Cozad. Clarence was a member of the First United Methodist Church for nearly 80 years. On October 28th, 1935 he and Beulah Groenewold were married at Julesburg, Colorado. Clarence and Beulah and their five children lived on a farm north of Cozad where Clarence was engaged in farming. Due to his love of horses he spent his spare time raising, training and riding horses. In his retirement Clarence took up wood carving, creating many horses and other western figures. He had been a member of the Cozad Saddle Club and the Gothenburg Roping Club. He also developed a passion for riding a motorcycle and later an ATV or 4-wheeler-as he called it. He was still riding the 4-wheeler well into his 90""s. Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah; brother, Roy; three sisters, Mildred Maack, Bernice Norris, Lucille Rasmussen, two sons-in-law, Dale Seyler and Jerry Sinor; sister-in-law, Jessie Maack and brother-in-law, Merle Norris. Survivors include: three daughters, Donna Sinor of Niwot, Colorado, Kay Seyler and Norma Loibl of Greeley, Colorado; two sons, Roger (Peggy) Maack of Cozad, Gary (Janice) Maack of Greeley, Colorado; brother, Lawrence Maack of Cozad; brother-in-law, Ralph Rasmussen of Denver, Colorado; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, September 6th, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad, with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery north of Cozad. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, September 5th at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. A memorial has been established in his memory. Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
