Arthur W. Wolf

September 2, 1923 — September 22, 2012

ARTHUR ""ART"" W. WOLF Arthur ""Art"" Wolf, age 89 of Cozad, formerly of Gothenburg and Farnam, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Art was born September 2, 1923 at Eustis, Nebraska to William and Bertha (Reiker) Wolf. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John""s Lutheran Church in Eustis. Art attended school at Eustis and was a member of the graduating class of 1941. Art farmed with his father east of Farnam for a number of years before taking over the farming operation himself. On February 16, 1961, he married Gladys Miller at Bertrand. The couple resided on the farm for a number of years, eventually moving to Harlingen, Texas in the late 1960""s. In the years to follow, Art and Gladys enjoyed wintering in Texas and spending summers in Farnam. In 1997, the couple moved to Gothenburg where they lived until 2009, when they moved to Meadowlark Pointe in Cozad. Golf was always one of Art""s passions. He loved to play the game, and excelled at it. While he was a gifted player, he was perhaps an even better teacher. Art spent much time helping others learn the game, including his grandson, patiently answering questions and refining the mechanics of their swings. When Art wasn""t on the golf course, he could be found spending time on his old classic pickup that he restored, or cooking some of his favorite German cuisine. Art was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, the Cozad Elks Club and the Farnam Lions Club. A memorial has been established in his memory. Condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Art was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Harold and Howard; and 2 sisters, Wilma VanSalsen and Julia Yardley. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Wolf of Cozad; 2 daughters, Geraldine (Larry) Adler of Overland Park, KS, Beverly (Del) Van Der Werff of Curtis; 6 grandchildren, Jay (Kelly) Van Der Werff of Kansas City, KS, Stacy (Jeff) Weller of San Antonio, TX, Julie Van Der Werff of Rapid City, SD, Jacqueline Hughes of Salida, CO, Marty (Dana) Adler of Olathe, KS, Jaylyn (Brice) Maddock of Nixa, MO; 14 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John""s Lutheran Church in Eustis with Pastors Beverly Rautenberg-Panko and Tom Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the East Cemetery at Eustis. Visitation will be on Monday, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
