Janet A. Knauss, age 86 of Cozad, passed away November 29, 2012 at the Mother Hull Home in Kearney. Janet was born May 1, 1926 at Genoa, Colorado to Clifford and Fern (Johnson) Rayburn. After high school graduation, she became a teacher. On September 21, 1949, Janet married Elwood ""Bub""� Knauss at Marysville, Kansas. Their union was blessed with 5 children, Julia, Brian, Karen, Carol, and Jo. Janet was a member of the Dawson Chapter #33 Order of the Eastern Star and a past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, crafts, gardening, and flowers. She spent many hours helping with the family 4-H projects. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwood in 1994; brother Duane; and sister in law Jenelda Rayburn. Survivors include her son, Brian (Suzanne) Knauss of Papillion; 4 daughters, Julia Knauss of Cozad, Karen (Stan) Prochnow of Seward, Carol Knauss of Grand Island and Jo Morris of Pleasanton; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin, Tymesia, Emilie, Jaimee, Zachary and Alexandra; 2 great grandchildren Rylie & Raelyn; a brother, Allan Rayburn of Columbus; sister-in-law, Ruth Rayburn of Brady; along with many other relatives and friends. A memorial has been established in her memory. Condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
