Rose M. Zook, age 94, passed away on March 13, 2013 at Golden Living Center Cozad, NE. She was born June 15, 1918 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Rose grew up and attended school in the area and graduated from Monroe Township High School in 1936. Rose married Harold Zook on July 31, 1936 and lived in West Liberty, Ohio until 1945, when they moved to Cozad, Nebraska. In Cozad, Rose was active with her husband""s business, Zook""s Welding Shop, as she was responsible for the financial and accounting for the business. Rose enjoyed being a stay-at-home wife and mother to their five children. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to many bridge clubs during her life. Memories at the cabin, on Midway Lake, included family and friends, where they gathered for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, attending school activities for her children and grandchildren that attended the Cozad Schools, along with many years traveling to Lincoln to attend the Nebraska Football games. Rose was a 50+ year member of First United Methodist Church and Meridian Chapter of the Easter Star, and Charter Member of the Cozad Does. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Weatherby; step-father, Robert Weatherby; father, Ed Mitchell; husband, Harold Zook; brother-in-law, Ervin ""Burky""� Burkholder and sister-in-law, Grace Burkholder. Rose is survived by her children, Bob (Avis) Zook and Jerry (Kem) Zook all of Cozad, Tom (Nancy) Zook of Blue Eye, MO, Raye Ann ""Rachel""� (Bob) Schum of Surprize, AZ, and Jane (Jim) Conroy of Peyton, CO. Surviving grandchildren include: Mike Zook of Omaha, Robin Kuhlman of Murdock, NE, Teresa Chramosta of Minden, Rene Hadjuk of Montgomery, TX, Debbie Pearce of Eldon, MO, Michele Diederich-Wagner of Redwood City, CA, Greg Diederich of Modesto, CA, Jeff Meyer of Casper, WY, Aimee Erickson of Lincoln, Mitch Zook, Wendy Waller, and Nicole Zook of Cozad. Surviving great-grandchildren include: Natalie and Rachel Zook of Omaha, Allison, Jake, and Carlie Kuhlman of Murdock, NE, Katie Chramosta of Holdrege, Brittany and Ryan Chramosta of Minden, Christopher and Jericho Hadjuk of Grand Junction, CO, Jimmy, Autumn, Mackenzie, and Miranda Pearce of Eldon, MO, Jordan and Garrett Diederich of Modesto, CA, Gus and Silas Meyer of Casper, WY, Gabriel Erickson of Lincoln and Abbie Waller of Cozad. Rose is also survived by two nephews, Dave and Ervin T. Burkholder and their families along with many friends in the community. Memorials have been established at Cozad United Methodist Church in Cozad or to the Cozad Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. A private family burial will be held in the Cozad Cemetery prior to services. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berryman""s Funeral Home. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
